How It FlowsMeet & Greet
We get to know each other in an initial consultation where we dive into your background, experience, lifestyle, and goals. You can ask questions, and we evaluate compatibility – will we be able to work together? Are we a good fit? Strategize & Plan We determine what we need to work on for you to reach your goals successfully. We discuss how we can optimize training and maximize performance for upcoming races and/or goals. In the early phases, we also take steps to evaluate your fitness, including intensity zones, strengths, and weaknesses. Train, Race, & Recover You train based on periodized training plans, delivered weekly via Training Peaks. Weekly plans ensure that activities are appropriate for your evolving fitness and suit your personal schedule. We communicate and work together so that you feel prepared for your races and confident building (and recovering!) throughout the season |
Triathlon is for everyone, but it's easy to feel overwhelmed. There's only so much Googling you can do to find answers and Facebook groups you can join for support. We're painfully aware of and understand the barriers to entry - because we've experienced it ourselves. That's why we're particularly welcoming of athletes who can identify with or relate to the categories below:
WomenDid you know women account for only 3% of participants in sports science research? Or that up until recently women’s sports comprise roughly 3% of sports media coverage? In late 2023, research indicated this has increased to about 15%! The absence of females is pervasive across triathlon – and sports generally. Science shows that women experience training, injury, and recovery differently than men. So if you’re a woman, we’re going to talk about your menstrual cycle, discuss symptoms of (peri-)menopause, and review women’s health.
We tailor our coaching by taking physiological and genetic differences into consideration, so that you can unlock performance levels and achieve goals safely. |
BeginnersWhether it’s a sprint or 70.3, your first triathlon is a big step into multisport!
Many triathletes come from single-sport backgrounds – or sedentary lives – and the preparation required for success in multisport can feel especially daunting. But we all have to start somewhere! We provide you with the guidance and tools to keep you on track, stay motivated, and build fitness, so that you can feel confident on race day. |
Training & Racing in JapanLook we get it, it’s not like back home. In both training and racing, rules and regulations abound in Japan. From tattoos to wetsuits, race attire and usage of electronic devices, it’s critical for visitors and guests to Japan to have a comprehensive understanding of what is considered appropriate and/or permitted in range of environments. We brief you on what to expect and how best to prepare, so that you're ready and focused.

Race Registration Support
We'll create an account for you on a Japanese registration platform, e.g. Runnet, Lawson DO! Sports, SportsEntry, MSPO, or register you to one single race/event in Japan. For triathletes, we can register you for annual Japan Triathlon Union (JTU) membership. Other inquiries for support related to races and sports events in Japan are also welcome.
Please note that most registration platforms and races require a local mailing address in Japan for membership. Japan Multisport cannot provide a local mailing address. Using someone else’s local address is not recommended as postal services often return mail to sender if the athlete’s name does not match the registered resident’s name. We cannot guarantee you'll be able to register for a race or a registration platform - this hinges on rules, regulations, and systems.

Enrollment in Cycling Liability Insurance
Did you know cycling liability insurance is mandatory in more than half of Japan, including Tokyo and Kanagawa?
In most of Japan, cyclists are required to take out insurance for liability coverage in the event of death or grievous bodily injury to a third party caused by a bicycle. If you ride a bike of any kind, it's imperative you protect yourself from potential financial ruin and have a fiscal buffer to help bear the cost of liability if an accident were to occur and you (the cyclist) were deemed responsible.
For instance, in 2013, an elementary school student riding their bicycle home at night struck a female pedestrian. The woman fractured her skull and went into a coma. Because the student did not have insurance, the student’s mother was held liable and made to pay damages totaling 95 million yen, or about $873,000.
Note that insurance policies you already have that cover damages to life, limb, or property, such as renters, fire, car, or HHG, may include adequate coverage in clauses. While there are currently no fines associated with riding without insurance, if you aren’t sure or aren’t covered, it’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.
